Masquerade Reveal & Free Anchihiiroo Novella!

Man, when the Indie Book Collective throws a party, it is a rockin’ one.  I’m still trying to recover from the awesome event this past week that was Blog Tour de Force: Masquerade.  If you missed it, you missed one fun shindig.  12 authors, 12 blogs, and 6 days of subversion, masquerading, and mind-games.  Each of us hid on another author’s blog.  Want to find out out who was the Scooby-Doo villain torturing commenters (and the other blog authors) on my blog?

I’ll tell you… right after this commercial break.

Okay, annoying American Idol delays aside.  I want to give a big, BIG shout-out to the amazing author Ann Charles for her hilarious work in occupying my blog.  She really is a Scooby-Doo nut.  Did you catch the tons of references to old Scooby-Doo villains along the way?  If you commented and never came back, make sure you GO BACK TO THE POST and read her responses.  She had a customized response (and epithet) for EVERY person that commented on the blog.  You also may have missed an epic battle between Ann and book-blogger Pinky… and the recruitment of fellow tour authors Maxwell Cynn and Rachel Thompson into her stable of evil.

Where was I hiding this past week?  Well, if you had a chance to stop by all of the spots, you would have found a certain whining cartoon novelist crying about being in a dark, scary forest over at Elena Gray’s blog (read the post & comments here).  I had a lot of fun playing along with the game.  I was also amazed at how many people guessed that I was Rachel Thompson.  She may be the queen of #snark, but I’m the king, baby.  (You know, figuratively speaking.)

To give you an idea of how far-reaching the Masquerade blog tour was, allow me to share a little of the behind-the-scenes analytics from my blog on Thursday, the day Ann’s post went live.

Unique Hits (different IP addresses): 224
Total Hits (includes people coming back again): 284
Total Pageviews (how many times any page on the blog was opened): 662

A coming-of-age adventure!

These are fantastic numbers for a blog that usually pulls 70-100 hits a day, nearly tripling my normal reach for the day.  What was also amazing was that many people hung out on the blog and checked out other posts.  This wasn’t a “drop a comment and run” experience, which exposed myself and the other authors to a bigger audience and added to our overall readership.  The following three days were also pretty high!

If you commented on the post, you received my email with a coupon code for a free copy of Toonopolis: Gemini.  With the downloads garnered from this event, my debut novel jumped back up to the #1 spot on Smashwords Fantasy bestseller list again (it was last there in June shortly after launch).  It also reached as high as #17 on the overall Fiction bestseller list!

I also used this tour to launch my brand new novella, Toonopolis Short: Anchihiiroo, a work that I am currently offering for free through the end of this year.  If you missed the tour, you can still pick up this novella (that can be read either before OR after Toonopolis: Gemini without ruining either story) for free at Smashwords: http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/96299.

Screenshot Evidence! 😉

The last order of business is to dish out the prize package for my blog.  Using Random.org’s random number generator, I selected a number from 1-82.  Each commenter was given a number in the chronological order they posted (there were 82 unique commenters).  The generator spit out the number 69, so congratulations to ‘donnas’ for winning the “Cartoon Through The Years” prize package, with the Looney Tunes Golden Collection DVD, Animaniacs Volume 1 DVD, and a signed hardcover copy of Toonopolis: Gemini.

A very big thank you to all of the people who participated and commented, a huge thank you to my fellow tour authors, and the biggest thank you to the wonderful folks at the Indie Book Collective who worked so hard to put this tour together.  I will not be participating in the next tour (November’s Blog Tour de Troops) as an author, but will serve as a sponsor for one of the authors instead.

  1. Yay! I guessed it was you on Elena’s blog. I like being right 🙂

    1. Good job Ciara! 🙂 I would have figured any of my ‘regular’ followers would have picked up my voice. So many people guessed Rachel Thompson but she’s a little more well-known in this circle, especially for her snark. 🙂

  2. Hi Jeremy Rodden-Doo!

Those meddling kids and their stinky dog Scooby have tied me up and pulled off my Evil Mastermind mask! Oh, the evil I had planned that is now going down the toilet–foiled again! Ha!

Thanks for allowing me to play the bad guy on your blog for a day. I had a great time thinking of different means of torture. Who knew I was capable of thinking up so many ways of torturing people (besides my husband, of course–haha!).

I love Toonopolis! Here is to much more success for you and your wonderful stories!!

    Evil-ly yours,
    Ann Charles
