Out of Character Origin AKA Why Jeremy Rodden Created This
You know, I've always been a huge fan of writing... been doing it ever since I learned to, uh, write. Creative writing was always my favorite school activity so when other people groaned, I made money by writing their stories for them. Around September of 1998, I was in a phase where I was a big fan of professional wrestling. While searching for things online, I found something called an e-fed. This was a wonderful world where I got trapped and locked in repeatedly, creating characters that I used to fight against others via roleplays, where the best writer wins. Now, eventually, I dipped out of that wrestling fan phase of my life but I still e-wrestled because of my love for writing. I was so happy to have an outlet for my creativity such as this. I began wondering... "How can I keep e-wrestling... without the wrestling?"

While thinking about it one morning, I realized that I could take the same concept that is the basis of e-wrestling (may the best writer win) and store it into something that would allow more creativity... less restriction... and no emphasis on "reality." CARTOONS!

Thus... the idea of a Toon Fighting World began in my head. I decided I should create an entire world around it, Toonopolis, and try to give way to many more creative writers of the future... giving them a place to release their ideas and energy, in an unrestricted world of competition. Toonopolis is a dream folks, let's hope it can bloom from now (April 15th, 2000) to the future...

In Character Origin AKA The Story of Kid Gemini
Jacob Grenk was a good kid. He had a great love for cartoons, comic books, and... cartoons. His mother always told him that if he sat too close to the screen and watched too many cartoons, he'd get sucked in. Naturally, he didn't listen to her... he made a mistake. Or did he?

One day, about a week after Jacob's thirteenth birthday, he was sitting at home watching a marathon of The Tick late night on Comedy Central when something from inside the television reached out and pulled him in. He finally got what he wanted, he was in cartoon world! He was sucked into the Tooniverse! He was thrust upon a large town in the Tooniverse, one filled with more types of toons than you can shake a stick at. There were dogs, talking eggplants, even a few human toons. There were also outsiders in this place, just like him. The outsiders weren't just humans though, there were also outsiders from other realms of the Tooniverse. Comic book characters, video game characters, and even some washed up cartoon stars were considered the outsiders of this city. This city was called Toonopolis.

Jacob was enamored by the world (as well as the fact that he had turned into a human toon and didn't age). Unlike some of the other human outsiders that cried and whined about being stuck in Toonopolis, he saw this as the dream he'd always wanted. He quickly forgot about the real world and became quite popular in Toonopolis. He called himself Kid Gemini, he had always hated his real name. One day, Kid Gemini stumbled upon a warehouse in the city where fighting took place for money. He felt it was highly disorganized and had an idea. He'd remembered back when Saturday Morning Cartoons were over, when he'd sometimes watch a bit of professional wrestling. He decided that, even though he hated wrestling, he would create a league where these toons could fight in a more organized fashion. He'd become the Tooniverse tycoon of entertainment!

He began his new dream... and this is where it begins...

The First Season: War!
On the very first season of Toonopolis Fighting World, a war broke out. It was started on Episode One by an extremely cryptic figure who would come to be known only as The Shadowy Figure. He declared that Kid Gemini must close the federation or he would force him to. Never one to take threats from an unknown force, Gemini refused and continued right along with Episode Two.

On Episode Two, the Shadowy Figure claimed that the first Tooniverse Champion would be the first toon that he/she/it had under his/her/its shadowy thumb. In response to that, Kid Gemini outwitted the Shadowy Figure and declared himself the first Tooniverse Champion. He was kind of quiet on Episode Three, save one death-type threat to Kid Gemini. On Episode Four, the two verbally battled and Kid Gemini ended up being tricked into joining a free-for-all fight he had scheduled for Episode Five, where he would lose the Tooniverse Belt to Milo.

On Episode Six, Kid Gemini ended up losing a fight to Angel because of the Shadowy Figure's distraction but, more importantly, the first blow was landed in the way of factioning: the Shadowy Figure had propositioned Milo. From that point on, Toonopolis Fighting World became a bargaining table and Kid Gemini and The Shadowy Figure offered what they could to toons to join their side of the war. The league's top toons started choosing sides: Kiki to Kid Gemini, Milo to Kid Gemini, Calophi to the Shadowy Figure, Purple Monkey Dishwasher to the Shadowy Figure, and so on.

Culminating in the First Movie: All's Fair In Love And War, things came to a head big time. The battle lines had been drawn and Kid Gemini and The Shadowy Figure agreed that they would allow their toons to battle it out to decide who would take over Toonopolis Fighting World at the end. It came down to the last fight as a tie, each side had won an equal number of fights up the the last one.

It came down to Kid Gemini (the worst fighter in the league) versus The Shadowy Figure (an apparently all powerful cartoon being). The cause seemed lost.

Then something happened.

The Shadowy Figure revealed himself.

And The Shadowy Figure was really Kid Gemini. Gemini explained that he had created the doppleganger of himself to entice interest in the Toonopolis Fighting World and that the doppleganger had gotten out of control. In the end, no one won the war (does anyone ever?) and the First Movie ended with a desperate cry by Jimbob the Talking Eggplant after Kid Gemini returned to the Real World to avoid causing more pain and anguish in the Tooniverse.

The Second Season: Chaos!
The desperate cry of Jimbob turned out to be a sign of things to come. Receiving numerous death threats and challenges against his power as the new owner and president of Toonopolis Fighting World, Jimbob went insane. A hallucination of Kid Gemini told him that the only way to solf his problem was to destroy all the toons on the roster. On Episode Fourteen, Jimbob attempted to do just that and gathered the entire roster (or so he thought) to the fighting pit and blew the entire thing up.

Some survived... some were never seen again.

After a stretch of inactivity, Toonopolis Fighting World returned with Episode Fifteen and with Jimbob still at the helm. On Episode Sixteen, Jimbob met with real-world wrestling promoter Jeremy Rodden (then CEO of the National Wrestlinc Council Affiliated Leagues [later, the Coalition of Affiliated Leagues]). He agreed to involve TFW with the organization on the grounds that Rodden find Jacob Grenk in the real world and return him to them.

Also on Episode Sixteen, a clone of Jimbob the Talking Eggplant who would come to be known as Little Jimmy was created by Panhandle. This would be the first of many odd events that would add to the level of chaos in Toonopolis.

On Episode Seventeen Livid, former manager of Maur, began assembling an army beginning with Paradox (a clone of Abnormal Membrane) and Candy (a kind of clone of Kiki drawn by Takin, Calophi's creator).

On Episode Twenty, things got really interesting when former Tooniverse Champion Potty Mouth returned and tricked Jimbob into thinking that Kid Gemini had made Potty a co-owner of the league.

After that, things began getting majorly out of control. Eve began amassing an army, Livid's army grew stronger, Potty Mouth kept running the Saturday Morning shows, the stupid Little Jimmy clone began running the After School Special shows, and Jimbob spent most of his time hiding under a table with a shotgun.

Then it happened.

Nasha won the CAL World Title from a cartoon version of Rictor Arkane, then champion. A lot of real world stuff got thrown out of whack and, in the end, Jeremy Rodden held true to his word and found Jacob Grenk. Well, he didn't really need to find him because Jacob Grenk was his son. After Nasha and Calophi were found by Kid Gemini in the body of real-world wrestler/voice actress Morgan Tyler, Jacob decided it was time to go back. He took Nasha and Calophi with him.

When he returned, he encouraged the toons to continue factioning and attempting to take over. He also reminded him that he was the Shadowy Figure and was, indeed, all powerful in the Tooniverse so that any attempt to overthrow him would fail. Jimbob went even more nuts, though, and fled from Gemini only to return riding a giant metallic purple horse and starting his own faction.

Things seemed to be building up towards the second movie that would pit the multiple factions against each other to see which was the strongest when, after Episode Twenty-Five, everything stopped.

Toonopolis became stuck in a suspended state of inaction. The cause was inexplicable. Some theorize that the world is similar to Fantasia in The NeverEnding Story and that, without the imagination and creativity of the people in the real world, the Tooniverse cannot function. Regardless, the world siezed... for over a year in real world terms.

The Third Season: ???
Jacob Grenk-Rodden was very sad sitting in the real world knowing that all his friends in the Tooniverse were in suspended animation. He had since grown through puberty and become a little older because the real world aging process had taken over again. He was now fifteen. And he wanted out of the real world. That's when he went back to the Tooniverse and his Toonoplis Fighting World... to discover that things were no longer stopped. There was activity... new toons... some old toons... and things were jumping again. Maybe things weren't really suspended, he thought. Maybe they just seemed that way to him. Regardless of the explanation, that's when he re-opened the Toonopolis Fighting World.

Where will things end up in the Third Season of Toonopolis Fighting World? Well, we'll just have to see, now won't we?
